The "Reine du Cervin" cow fighting festival on 8 August is just around the corner. To advertise the traditional event, Zermatt Tourism has filmed a follow-up to its web series from 2018. An episode will be published from Monday 26 July on Zermatt Tourism's social media channels, with three new episodes in total. In the last edition of the web series around the traditional festival, the two main actors David and Benny managed to bring both the image of Zermatt and the Director of Tourism Daniel Luggen into disrepute. To avoid being banished from Zermatt, the two try to repair the damage with an original idea – using very unconventional means and aided and abetted by some very well-known Swiss personalities. This week, the Parkhotel Beau Site in Zermatt re-opened its new gastronomy world after being closed for six weeks for renovation. Last weekend, General Manager Roman Codina and the Board of Directors welcomed around 300 partners, guests and friends to the hotel’s refurbished facilities.

Restaurant Moos, which has been closed for five years, is scheduled to re-open to guests in June 2020 under the new name of “Moos-Hitta”. Owners Sabina and Roger Perren will offer homemade soups and cakes and much more. Walkers, runners or bikers can find the “Moos-Hitta” just outside the village not far from the Zermatt hamlet of Winkelmatten.

The first Indian restaurant in Zermatt is set to open in December 2020 at Bahnhofplatz 2 – the Golden India. The Indian owners, the Singh family, studied in Switzerland and already run successful restaurants in Wengen and Grindelwald. Locals and visitors to the destination will soon be able to experience delicious, authentic Indian cuisine in a relaxing atmosphere.

Over the last few years, Hotel Capricorn has renovated all the bedrooms in the main building. Since spring, guests have been enjoying freshly painted rooms with new wooden walls, parquet flooring and new furniture. Some of the bathrooms have also been renovated, with the rest to be renovated gradually over time.

The 10-person Kumme gondola will open on 19 December 2020 and it will be the first gondola in Switzerland that can run without staff. Fifty-six cabins will carry 1,500 people per hour on the 3.2 km route from Tufternkehr via the middle station in Wyss Gufer to the Unterrothorn. The new facility and accompanying artificial snow system will be a fantastic addition to the winter sports facilities in the Unterrothorn area.

The 86th Annual General Meeting of Zermatt Tourism took place virtually – for the first time in its history. The association members agreed by circular resolution to appoint the previous Director of Tourism, Amadé Perrig, as an honorary member and to amend the statutes.
